The harlequin ladybird (Harmonia axyridis) is an invasive species throughout North America, northwestern Europe and lately (since 2004) also in the UK. | Asiatischer Marienkäfer (Harmonia axyridis) auf Löwenzahn (Taraxacum officinale) Der Asiatische Marienkäfer (Harmonia axyridis) ist ein Käfer (Coleoptera) aus der Familie der Marienkäfer (Coccinellidae). Er wird auch als Vielfarbiger Marienkäfer oder Harlekin-Marienkäfer bezeichnet. Ursprünglich kommt der Asiatische Marienkäfer aus Japan und China. Er wurde Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts zunächst in die USA und dann auch nach Europa eingeführt, wo man ihn auch heute noch zur biologischen Schädlingsbekämpfung erwerben kann. Inzwischen tritt er an vielen Stellen massenhaft wild auf und man befürchtet, dass er einheimische Marienkäfer-Arten verdrängt.
